Principal Consultant / President: Jeffery Jones P.E.
Principal Consultant has over 43 years of hydropower engineering, operations, and maintenance experience. He served as a Principal Mechanical Engineer and turbine specialist for almost 29 years in the hydropower department of a major hydropower producing public utility. He has extensive experience with hydraulic turbines, generators, bearings (oil and water), brakes, large valves (butterfly and spherical), and the balance of plant auxiliaries for supporting hydro units (see Services / Solutions section for detailed list).
Principal Consultant specializes in hydro modernization and rehabilitation and the many challenges those programs present. He has been a cognizant or responsible engineer for over 100 major hydro unit modernizations or hydro rehabilitations with capacities ranging from 5 to 440 MW. This includes 5 large pump-turbine unit modernizations. He also specializes in hydro unit alignments, including plumb and rotation, and thrust bearing loading (equalization). He is the inventor of several U.S Patents including the most advanced hydro unit electronic alignment method, IviaSAT,
Patent Pending.
Chief Mechanical Engineer: William (Bill) Lewis P.E.
Mechanical Engineer with over 39 years of experience in various positions in power generation. Experienced in rehabilitation and modernization of TVA’s hydroelectric power train equipment and is subject matter expert (SME) in auxiliary equipment such as vibration monitoring, temperature monitoring, lubrication systems, and cooling water systems. Also performed cavitation inspections and is familiar with loading thrust bearings on vertical turbine generators. Experience also includes startup testing and load rejection testing.
Governor Specialist - Senior Consultant: George Atkinson
Electrical engineer with over 42 years of experience in various positions working on hydroelectric equipment at all of TVA's hydroelectric plants. Experienced in the rehabilitation and modernization of hydroelectric power train equipment and is a subject-matter expert (SME) in hydraulic turbine controls and governor systems with an emphasis on Woodward Governor controls. Experience also includes startup testing and special governor tests.
Mechanical Technologist / Manager of Innovation - Clint Pierce
Machine Designer / Mechanical designer with over 35 years of experience in various positions working with machinery and mechanical equipment. Solidworks 3D and AutoCad 2D machine designer. Extensive experience in creative product development, inventions, manufacturing unique machinery, liaison engineering, product development, and shop management.
Senior Consulting Engineer: Carl Woerner
Mechanical engineer with over 34 years of experience in the design and maintenance of power plant mechanical equipment and systems. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the rehabilitation and modernization of hydroelectric mechanical power train equipment and auxiliary equipment, hydro engineering, equipment troubleshooting, and root cause analysis. Experience also includes various areas of mechanical engineering related to hydropower, including detailed design, reverse engineering of equipment, maintenance and operations. Specializes in alignments of hydro units.
